DESCRIPTION:REFRAMING THE CONVERSATION ABOUT GROWING OLDER\n\nSponsored by the Center for Gerontology at Concordia University Chicago\n\n\n\nPRESENTED BY: Leaders from The National Center to Reframe Aging @ The Gerontological Society of America WHEN: Celebrating Seniors Week\, Wednesday\, May 17\, 2023\, 9am-Noon\n\nWHERE: Christopher Center Rm. 248\, Concordia University Chicago\, 7400 Augusta St.\, River Forest\, IL 60305\n\nDESIGNED FOR: Community leaders dedicated to creating age-friendly organizations and all community members interested in changing the conversation personally and contributing to an anti-ageist community.\n\n\n\nEVENT REGISTRATION LINK:\n\nhttps://www.eventbrite.com/e/reframing-the-conversation-about-growing-older-tickets-610204818037\n\n\n\nSUMMARY\n\nThis interactive workshop designed to:\n\n- Understand how perceptions about aging impact our health and well-being\n\n- Develop an appreciation for the purpose and value of framing communication to improve understanding of aging\n\n- Understand how common patterns of thinking and communicating confound our messages and goals\n\n- Learn to apply techniques in our work to create well-framed messages by reviewing samples from the National Center to Reframe Aging's network\n\n\n\nSPECIAL OPPORTUNITY FOR WORKSHOP PARTICIPANTS\n\nUp to 10 workshop participants will be invited to apply for a grant to reframe aging in their organization.\n\n- Training and support will be offered by the Center to Reframe Aging and the Center for Gerontology\n\n- Training and technical assistance for project implementation will be provided by the Center to Reframe Aging. Training will include four 1.5 hour online sessions for 2 people per organization\n\n- Local support will be provided by the Center for Gerontology @ Concordia\n\nApplications will be open from June 15-July 31\, 2023\, with awards announced in early September 2023.\n\n\n\nTHE NATIONAL CENTER TO REFRAME AGING\n\nIs the trusted source for evidence -based\, proven communication strategies and tools to effectively frame aging issues.
